The Dragon Represents Excellence, Focus, Discipline, Responsibility & Success
HIS BEHAVIOR HAS IMPROVED
Dear Master Rorhrock,
I am writing to you to thank you for all the help, for 3 months now. Zaden has had a few traumatic experiences in his young life. I had to seek professional help for him with therapists, doctors, and crisis counselors. Since he has been enrolled in Kung Fu his behavior has improved greatly. He looks forward to coming to class and really likes his training.
Mr. Lauffenburger has the patience of a saint and Zaden really admires him and likes going to his class. I was a little afraid of letting him enroll because of his aggressive behavior but it is the best thing I could have done for him. All of his therapists and counselors have noticed a marked improvement in his behavior, and he is so much calmer and less angry with me also. So again I want to thank you and Mr. Lauffenburger for all of the help, support, and kindness you have shown Zaden. Thank You so very much. Nadine C Devlin
BILLY HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL

HAS BOOSTED HER SELF-ESTEEM
“I started my daughter at Rothrock’s Kung Fu & Tai Chi studio for many different reasons. I must admit I had reservations about her being in class. Her memory isn’t like most 4th graders and I was afraid it would be more pressure on her. It turned out she loved the classes. I found that being at Rothrock’s Kung Fu & Tai Chi Studio has made Kara more aware of her potential, has boosted her self esteem, and most appropriately, has taught her that how fast you learn is not as important as trying to do your best.” Sincerely, Kerin DeBeck

Kung Fu – A Long History of Child Leadership Skills
To understand why Kung Fu develops these attributes for success in your child, we must understand the history of Kung Fu. Briefly, though Kung Fu was recorded in 2600 B.C., it really became a prominent force in Chinese culture. Around 500 A.D., the famous monastery called Shaolin (Young Forest), developed and cataloged Kung Fu techniques and added to the overall wealth of Kung Fu knowledge.
As you might know, the monks at the monastery were the educators and physicians of that era. Children went to the monastery not only for the academic study of math, science, reading, and medicine, but also for the physical techniques of Kung Fu for health and protection. However, for a child to start Kung Fu training, he had to first develop concentration, discipline, leadership, and respect.
These were taught at the monastery by doing chores, studying, and carrying out specific responsibilities. You’ve probably seen these played out in the Karate Kid movies where the instructor has the student doing chores first before they are allowed to actually learn Kung Fu. These leadership attributes can even be seen with the five animals of Kung Fu like the ones in the Kung Fu Panda movie: the tiger for discipline, the leopard for patience, the dragon for concentration, the snake for temperance, and the crane for control.
Confidence & Concentration for Now and Success in the Future
Though we are teaching your child basic Kung Fu techniques and self-defense and bully busting, we concentrate on developing your child’s life skills for their success in school, life, and profession.
Some of these life skills are the 3 Rules of Concentration, the 7 magic Words, the 4 Rules of Discipline, and the 7 Rules of Leadership. So even though your child learns the basics of Kung Fu, they also develop, learn and use these life skills for success in life. As you know, your child is not born with these life skills, they have to be taught and learned at an early age until they become successful habits.
Life Skills for your Child’s Success in Life
Your child learns how to be a success in school and later in life. These life skills are not inherent but have to be developed, learned, and utilized at an early age until they become habits. As you know, these success skills are not taught in school. Your child will learn to deal with peer pressure, bullies, develop responsibility, improve their grades and develop a leadership role, rather than take a back seat.
This is different than other sports such as football, baseball, and soccer. In those sports, they compete against other kids and some kids are stars and most are not. In Kung Fu, your child only competes with himself and strives to do better than the day before.
